About the Role
Qualys is looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Software QA Engineer to join its Patch Management team in Pune. This role is focused on validating the Windows patch catalog, ensuring high-quality metadata, accurate detection logic, and seamless deployment workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify patch catalog data such as KB articles, severity, classification, and product applicability
- Test detection logic for vulnerabilities and patch workflows across Windows 10/11 and Server editions
- Ensure metadata accuracy by aligning with Microsoft CVEs and security advisories
- Collaborate with developers to fix logic errors and maintain consistency
- Execute manual and automated test cases for content validation
- Manage test environments using VMware, VirtualBox, or Hyper-V
- Perform regression testing for monthly patch updates like Patch Tuesday
- Maintain documentation including test plans and validation reports
- Track and resolve bugs using tools like JIRA and Azure DevOps
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Windows Update, WSUS, SCCM, Intune
- Familiar with Microsoft KB articles, CVEs, cumulative patches
- Proficiency in QA methodologies (manual + automation)
- PowerShell scripting knowledge for automation or test support
- Hands-on with virtual platforms like VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V
- Comfortable with test case management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr
- Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tools like Qualys, Tanium, BigFix, Ivanti, ManageEngine
- Understanding of vulnerability lifecycle management
- Familiarity with CIS/NIST benchmarks
